Barby is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire. It is located approximately 5 miles south of Rugby in Warwickshire and 7 miles north of Daventry. The parish also includes the hamlet of Onley, which is located to the west of the Oxford Canal.
The village is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Rainsbrook and Leam valleys. It is thought to have been founded in the 11th century by the Normans, and there is evidence of a Norman castle on the northern edge of the village.
Barby has a long history of agriculture, and many of the village's buildings are made from local limestone. However, the village has also been home to a number of industries over the years, including weaving, shoemaking, and engineering.
