Church Stowe is a village in West Northamptonshire. It is the largest settlement in the civil parish of Stowe Nine Churches. The village is known for its historic St Michael's Church, which has a tall Saxon tower and a magnificent early baroque monument to Lady Elizabeth Danvers.
According to legend, the site of the church was chosen by a supernatural spirit. It is said that the church's builders found their materials moved to a different location overnight for nine consecutive nights, so they eventually built the church in that location. This is supposedly where the name Stowe Nine Churches derives from.
The present church building dates back to the 16th century, but the Saxon tower is much older. The church is Grade I listed on the National Heritage List for England.
In addition to its historic church, Church Stowe also has a number of other interesting features. The village is home to a number of old cottages and farmhouses, as well as a craft centre and a village hall.
